Times are tight and it's harder to put quality food on the table. Angel Food Ministries is helping by selling quality foods for half the price.
If you are looking for a hand up, Angel Food Ministries can help you. Each month AFM provides a box package of quality foods for $30 designed to feed a family of four for week. Complete with meats, vegetables, milk, eggs, and a desert, the box package is roughly worth $50 to $65, depending on where you live. Each month’s “Regular Box” contains a new menu, complete with recipes. There is also a package option of precooked frozen “Senior/Convenience” meals for $28 and a new “Allergen Free” package for $25. Best of all, there are no qualifications to meet; anyone can purchase food from Angel Food Ministries. Once you have ordered one of the first box packages, the “Regular Box”, the “Senior/Convenience Box” or the “Allergen-Free Box”, there are several other specials packages to choose from including an all vegetable package, and meat packages. The menus change month to month, so you won’t get bored with the same foods every month. How Angel Food Ministries WorksAngel Food Ministries has about 3,500 established host sites, usually a church, in 35 states. Each host site has its own order and pick up schedule, but in general orders are placed in the beginning of the month, in person, and picked up towards the end of the month. AFM accepts cash or food stamps and all orders must be paid for in advance. This might require families to reorganize how they plan their meals, but for the savings, it is worth it! You can find the host site closest to you buy visiting the AFM web site and entering your zip code. You can then contact that host site directly to place your order in person. If there are no host sites near you, there is information at the web site on how your house of worship can become a host site. Host sites earn $1 per box order to help cover their operational costs. Who Started AFM?Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational faith based organization which began in 1994 with Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo of Monre, GA. When their local industrial factories closed, leaving many families without work, they started providing food from their own back porch. By ordering in “deep volume discounts” and with a $7 million dollar loan from the USDA , AFM can pass the savings to struggling families. Currently, AFM feeds 500,000 families a month nation wide, and the need is increasing! According to AFM, just this month orders jumped up 20% as compared to January orders and compared to this time last year, orders are up 63%. What About the Ministry?Included in each box order is a copy of “The Servant” a full color mini-magazine, about eight pages, featuring articles about the Christian faith, news regarding the AFM, recipes, and inspirational stories. While America is a country of diverse religious background and while people who are in need like wise come from many different faith backgrounds, the gently proselytizing articles in “The Servant” are well worth the gift of affordable food. The AFM’s stresses that the “food relief program is open to one and all.” In these tough economic times, may all people of faiths, Buddhist, Wiccan, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and those without a faith, all find ways to work together to prevent suffering and promote inclusive humanitarian efforts! If your family is looking for a way to save some money check out Angel Food Ministries. All you need to do is visit their web site, find a host site near you and contact them directly for their ordering and pick up dates. You can order as much as you want, and there are no qualifications, applications, or disqualifications. Even if you don't need help with your food bills, you can always purchase a box and donate your savings to a charity of your choice.
