A very few area rugs are machine washable so care for your rug as you would wall-to-wall carpet. Vacuum regularly, taking care not to mangle the edge of the rug or any fringe in the vacuum’s rollers. Some manufacturers recommend vacuuming the underside of an area rug as well.
