With all of these Christmas tree stands, follow the manufacturer’s directions on preparing the base of the tree before setting it in the stand. Some stands allow for low hanging branches, for instance, while others require trimming all branches near the base. Make a fresh one-inch cut from the base of the tree before placing it in the stand and, once erect, fill the reservoir with one quart of water for every inch of diameter of the tree’s trunk.
